And, With Time, It Begins to Get Easier

We like to say, “Time heals all wounds.”

Bullshit.

  • My father had a brother and a sister, both of whom died before Gran. She never recovered from burying two of her children.
  • Growing up, my next door neighbour lost his son to suicide. He never recovered.
  • I dated a woman who found her mother, hanging in the closet. She never recovered.

I could go on, but shan’t.

The deepest wounds never heal, although they do grow scar tissue. And, if we’re lucky, the distance of time removes some of the sharpest sting of the wound.

But, some wounds never heal.

Things just get a bit easier.
