The desire to succeed must be tempered with the realization that success is not linear.
If, as the saying goes, time is precious, why do we spend so much time wishing time away? I don’t think time is precious at all, merely irreplaceable.
One thing I do to control my mental health problems is to fill the time gaps so I don’t dwell on them. Lately I’ve been filling the gaps with something useful, for additional benefits.
Post WWII we created this weird idea of “retirement,” of working until 60ish, and then…stopping. I’d rather not.
